Who we are
JAMK University of Applied Sciences (JAMK) is one of the most popular universities of applied sciences in Finland. JAMK is a multidisciplinary higher education institution with four educational units: School of Business, School of Health and Social Studies, School of Technology and Teacher Education College. There are altogether 8500 students and 690 staff members. The quality system of JAMK fulfils the national criteria and the European quality assurance recommendations set for the quality management of higher education institutions. The Finnish Higher Education Council (FINHEEC, nowadays FINEEC) has renewed JAMK’s quality label in 2013 and it is valid until 2019.
At JAMK, international cooperation is highly valued and internationalisation is actively supported in all its operations. In 2013, JAMK received the Erasmus Award for Excellence for being the most international university in Europe based on staff mobility.
The School of Health and Social Studies of JAMK is a versatile health, well-being and cultural trainer, with 60 years of experience in providing and developing Nursing education and almost 20 years’ experience in running a degree programme in nursing in English. The education it provides is future-orientated and ideally designed to meet the needs of working life. The training and development work is based on research information that enhances regional competence and internationalisation, produces applicable research data, commercializes, and pilots new working models, social innovations and service concepts for the services market. The School of Health and Social Studies tailors service solutions based on the latest research in the following areas: further education, development of degree programmes in health care and well-being discipline, consulting in revision of nursing education system and smart accessibility for people with special needs. It offers cooperation, assistance and training for healthcare professionals, private and public hospitals, education and training providers, welfare sector companies as well as for individuals.
Service portfolio of the School of Health and Social Studies consist of development services and capacity building programmes in the field of health care and wellbeing:
