Savonia University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest and most versatile Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland. Our organization of experts educates strong professionals in six different fields of study. Our campuses are situated in Kuopio, Iisalmi and Varkaus.

Our international partnership collaboration is based on either bilateral agreements or networking. Aim of these partnerships is to increase and strengthen the Savonia is run by the Savonia University of Applied Sciences ltd. The manager of the ltd and the President of Savonia UAS is Mrs Mervi Vidgrén. There are almost 6000 students and 450 employees at Savonia. Our annual budget is around 50 million euros.

We are doing international collaboration in order to develop and internationalize the R&D activities. In these partnership networks, there are representatives from universities as well as from business life organizations. We will reinforce our knowhow and make it possible for our staff and students to participate in a wide variety of exchange programmes through these partnerships.

Savonia UAS wishes to serve the surrounding work life actively. Our R&D activities offer high-quality services and tailor-made solutions to the development needs of the businesses and work communities. Co-operation, networking and internationalization are the crucial factors of our success. At Savonia, transdisciplinarity is secured by organizing RDI into main axes called Competence Networks. These networks are Welfare products and services, Energy, the Environment and Safety and Industrial Design.

Savonia has put much effort into developing ways to connect working life with studies and education. Studies in Savonia have been renewed with Open Innovation Space (OIS). In this learning approach we combine learning, development, research, and teaching. Working life oriented learning requires close and versatile collaboration between Savonia and our regional partners. The OIS learning benefits both students and companies.
